Khaithi OTT Release Becomes Controversial

Khaithi is the new movie from Karthi in Tamil and Telugu. The movie surprised all with his raw portrayal of a "criminal who-changed-for-good" character and a structured storytelling.
It made Lokesh Kanagaraj, a director to look forward to and the man is directing Thalapathy Vijay in his next. Many lady actors have posed their selfies after joining the ongoing shoot schedule in Delhi. Soon the shoot will change to Chennai studios.
Now, exhibitors from Tamil Nadu are asking Producer SR Prabhu to recall the film from OTT release and wait for the theatrical run to be over. Still movie is running with 60% to houseful crowds on weekends, they stated.
They also made a demand in Producers Council that a film which is a box office hit shouldn't release within one month on OTT platforms as that will kill theatrical revenue of the film and its run.
SR Prabhu defended his stand by saying that the producers need to think about the profits that they make by selling to OTT platforms and also the problems like piracy that are ultimately killing long run at the theatres before asking for delayed OTT release.
The same problem is being brought to notice of Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce by several producers and exhibitors with Suresh Babu supporting them all. Exhibitors are asking for their interest to also be safeguarded while producers go for additional profits by killing run of their films.
Producers are defending their stand by saying that they can't change their business style for 10% films that succeed and get long run at theatres. Let's wait and see, how will this controversy end with a solution.
