Leading OTT Platform Says No Season 2 Of Mystery Thriller!

The last two years can be called a golden era for OTT platforms. With the theatre system not working actively the OTTs banked on this heavily and saw big fortunes. Irrespective of the sizes, the OTTs shined brightly and a few new platforms also entered the space.
The OTTs offered original content for the subscribers to keep them glued to the platforms. Leading OTT giant Netflix which enjoys massive users across the globe offered such original content. The critically acclaimed 1899 series is one such content.
As the content made on Mysteries are selling in a big way Netflix joined the row and brought the German mystery thriller series 1899. The series attained a cult following among the viewers. Thanks to subtitles the series was watched by non-German Language people as well.
But the OTT platform told a piece of sad news for the fans that the second season will not come. In a statement, Netflix said that earlier season 2 and 3 were planned but things are not materialising and with a heavy heart they are announcing this.
"With a heavy heart we have to tell you that 1899 will not be renewed. We would have loved to finish this incredible journey with a 2nd and 3rd season as we did with Dark. But sometimes things don’t turn out the way you planned," Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar who made the show said on social media.
While the exact reason behind this is not known. Many say that Netflix might have taken the call as part of cost-cutting as it is dealing with a massive dip in users. At a fast rate, Netflix is losing subscribers and the platform is said to be working on stopping users from sharing the platform.
As further efforts, stopping the next season of the mystery thriller was called by the makers. On the other hand, it is also said that the mystery thriller 1899 fell short of expectations. The makers pinned high hopes that the series would be a big hit. But the series could not reach that. No matter what the reason is, fans are sad now.
