Distributors Get Their 2.0 Advance Back!

Rajnikanth and Shankar have been a formidable combination. They delivered biggest blockbusters of South Cinema like Sivaji and Robo.
From past three years, they are working on sequel to Robo, 2.0. The producers have publicised it to be a huge production with 400 crores budget.
Buzz for the movie has been high and even the anticipation is huge. But the music did not live up to the hype and many even forgot that music has been released last Diwali.
The production house, Lyca Productions finally gave a date, 29th November for the movie release.
They even distributed Rajni's latest Kaala. Movie failed and looking at its business, the distribution company Asian Pictures, asked for half of the advance back from Lyca, from what they have paid for 2.0.
Lyca Productions replied that they can take full advance, if they don't trust them. Asian with some other partners bought the movie distribution rights all over Telugu states for Rs. 78 crores and paid Rs. 20 crores as advance.
Asian asked Rs. 10 crores back as they got impatient with movie's postponements. Lyca recently paid them the amount and offered they pay back full if they wish too.
Observers are saying that Lyca is finally confident about the release date and hence, Asian won't be in a hurry to get rid of a film, that will surely have huge rush at the box office at least for the first week.
The craze for the movie still did not die down and Shankar has some good strategies to publicise his movies, as well. So, it would be too early to judge the film's potential.
