The trend of Biopics has picked up in Hindi Film Industry. Life Stories of Sportspersons, Inspiring Individuals and Gangsters have been made in the past few years.
Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni's biopic 'MS Dhoni - The Untold Story' is making headlines for the huge amount charged for 'Royalty'. It is learnt that the deal was closed for Rs 60 crore. While Rs 20 crore will be paid to Dhoni prior to the release, Captain Cool will have a share in film's profits.
Earlier, Biopics such as 'Paan Singh Tomar', 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' and 'Mary Kom' were made on the lives of prominent sportspersons. All of them accepted a nominal amount inspite of being in a position to demand. In Dhoni's case, Its completely different and he made good use of the popularity he enjoys.
'MS Dhoni - The Untold Story' stars Sushant Singh Rajput, Kaira Advani, Bhumika and Anupam Kher in key roles. Neeraj Pandey of 'A Wednesday', 'Special 26' and 'Baby' fame wielded the megaphone.
