Censor Board suggested 14 Cuts to issue the clearance for release. Subsequently, The Revising Committee was approached and the movie was passed with few cuts. The Bombay High Court dismissed the petition filed by Priya Paul, who claims to be Sanjay Gandhi's Daughter, seeking a stay on the release until objectionable scenes were chopped off. Madhur Bhandarkar clarified 'Indu Sarkar' has nothing to do with Gandhis and 70 percent of it is just a fiction. Kirti Kulhari, Anupam Kher, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Tota Roy Chowdhury play key roles in the film.
