Magisterial probe into Ram Singh suicide
By: Tupaki Desk | 11 March 2013 7:34 AM GMTDelhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Monday said a magisterial inquiry will be conducted into the suicide of Ram Singh, the main accused in the Dec 16, 2012, Delhi gang-rape case.
Dikshit also met Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, but said not much was discussed about Ram Singh who killed himself Monday morning in the high-security Tihar Jail here.
"As per the law, a magisterial inquiry will be set up. It would be wrong to comment on this incident until the magisterial level enquiry is over," Dikshit told reporters after meeting Shinde.
She said necessary action will be taken after the report comes.
Ram Singh, 33, main accused in the horrific gang-rape case of 23-year-old physiotherapy student Dec 16, 2012 which caused massive nationwide outrage, committed suicide by hanging himself in ward no. 5 of jail no. 3 in Tihar Jail Monday around 5 a.m.
The young woman gang-raped by six people died of internal injuries caused during the assault two weeks later, in a Singapore hospital.
