Legendary actress Savitri biopic directed by young director Nag Ashwin has become the most interesting project in Tollywood now. As the filmmakers are roping in popular artists for every important character and it has increased the hype on the project. Keerthy Suresh and Samantha have brought star value to the project. It is known that Keerthy is appearing in the titular role and Samantha is playing another important role.
The shooting has been carried out silently without much fanfare right from the start and half of the shoot has already been completed. Even though they have not revealed the budget of the film, we can say that the budget will be high because of the huge star cast. But the makers said to be delighted with the response they are getting from the buyers and distributors. Overseas distributors Nirvana Cinemas said to have offered Rs.4.5 crores to for the overseas rights of 'Mahanati' as per the industry talk. Nirvana Cinemas have already earned huge profits with 'Anando Brahma' and 'Arjun Reddy' which they have distributed recently. So they are betting high on 'Mahanati' now. But still, the figure is very high for a lady oriented film and it is a record.
Malayalam hero Dulquer Salman is playing the role of Gemini Ganesan. Even though he is familiar to Telugu audience with dubbed films like 'OK Bangaram', Savitri biopic is the first straight Telugu film for him. Vijay Devarakonda, who became a hot shot hero with the success of 'Arjun Reddy' is going to be a special attraction for 'Mahanati'. Versatile actor Prakash Raj is also playing a crucial role.
