Talented actor and writer Adivi Sesh's latest outing 'Major' turned out to be a very good success. The movie did extremely well considering the budget spent on it. 'Major' received a lot of accolades from the critics and the audience alike.
The makers were quite clever when It comes to doing business for this film. Trusted reports reveal that 'Major' did a total business of 60 crores. The makers have spent below 35 crores on the making and it even includes the print and publicity costs. The theatrical rights were sold for 27 crores worldwide and it earned around 50 crores already.
The digital rights were given to Netflix for 16 crores and the satellite rights for the Hindi version were sold for 8 crores. The audio rights were bought for a crore and the satellite rights for the Telugu version brought them 7 crores. The Malayalam satellite version was given for a crore. Summing it up, the team got 33 crores on non-theatrical rights.
'Major' is directed by Sashi Kiran Tikka who made 'Goodachari' earlier with Sesh. Abburi Ravi has penned the dialogues while Adivi Sesh himself provided the screenplay. Maratha beauty Saiee Manjrekar will be seen as the hero's romantic interest in 'Major'. Telugu girl Sobitha Dhulipala played a key role in this film. This pan-Indian project is produced jointly by Sony Pictures India, A+S Movies and GMB Entertainments jointly. Veterans like Prakash Raj, Murali Sharma, Revathi and others are also a part of this film. 'Major' is based on the life of Sandeep Unnikrishnan who sacrificed his life during the '26/11' attacks in Mumbai back in 2008. The multilingual film 'Major' traces the journey of Major Sandeep from childhood, teenage, and glorious years in the army to the tragic events of the Mumbai attack where he was martyred, touching upon the different aspects of his being.
