'Satyam', 'Godavari' & 'Golconda High School' are the better films in Sumanth's career spanning two decades. None of his attempts to bounce back worked in the recent years. This time, He arrived with serious love story titled as 'Malli Raava'. Has he made the right choice at least now?
Synopsis:
Love blossoms between Karthik (Sumanth) & Anjali (Aakanksha) during their Teenage Days. However, An unavoidable situation separates them. Few years later, Anjali arrives to the place where Karthik works. Just when everything seems to be falling in place, She leaves him yet again. They reunite after sometime but will that last forever or ends abruptly. Watch 'Malli Raava' in theaters near you!
Performances:
Sumanth played a role which suits him to the T after a long gap. He showed his speciality at giving the best while doing a serious character. A matured performance has been delivered by him during emotional scenes. Of course, He could have done much better in comedy scenes.
Aakanksha Singh is a major attraction in the movie. She emotes beautifully and competes well with Sumanth in the last half-an-hour.
Among the rest of the cast, Hero's Friend and the guy who played the role of Manager did a fine job. Even the Actor who played Heroine's Father does well. Annapurna is alright. Child Artistes picked up for the childhood roles of Hero-Heroine are pretty good.
Pros:
Music
Heroine
Emotional Quotient
Cons:
Schooling Episode
Slow Narration
Technicalities:
Music by Sravan Bharadwaj stands out as the best in 'Malli Raava'. Both Songs and Background Score maintained a good feel throughout the movie. Sateesh Muthyala's Cinematography is impressive. Production Values are good enough. Director Goutam Tinnanuri showed how good he is at dealing love stories and emotional scenes with this flick. On the flip side, His narration is too slow. Though the Screenplay is different, It leads to a bit of confusion. Overall, He scored appreciable marks as a Director.
Analysis:
'Malli Raava' is a serious romantic drama which carries a good feel throughout the course of the movie. The way Director Gowtam dealt the subject deserves a special mention. Love Story of present times will move the viewers emotionally. Whereas, The previous two stages tests the patience to some extent. Movie Lovers need to bear with the lethargic narration to experience a heart-touching emotion towards the end.
Back n Forth Screenplay Technique has been followed by Makers to narrate the subject lasting for decades. Of course, We might have seen many films in which past and present were narrated in this manner. In 'Malli Raava', The emotional journey during the three stages of life has been blended leads to confusion and even the flow gets affected. Movie Buffs find it hard to involve as three different periods in the lives of hero-heroine are shown one after the other. Director stuck to the same format till the very end.
Episode of Hero-Heroine school days lacked any speciality to engage the viewers. Love between teenagers at such an young age looks a bit awkward. Scenes of the Lovers in the next stage came as a big relief. Comedy Sequences in the software company tickle the funny bone. Whereas, The reason Heroine cites to leave Hero doesn't appear very convincing.
Love Story in present times is the biggest asset of this Sumanth-starrer. The emotional quotient hits the right chord with the audience. Especially, Climax is heart-touching. This makes the viewers step out of the theaters with a nice feeling. On a finishing note, 'Malli Raava' marks the comeback of Sumanth.
Bottom Line: Touches Your Heart...Slowly!
