RP Patnaik began his career as Music Director & has given some chartbuster albums over the years. He made his Actor debut with 'Seenu Vasanti Lakshmi'. Thereafter, He decided to wield the megaphone for narrating some interesting concepts. 'Andamaina Manasulo', a musical love story, marked his directorial debut. Thereafter, He made a social subject 'Broker', supernatural thriller 'Amy' and youthful entertainer 'Friends Book'. This times, He wages war against Media with 'Manalo Okkadu'. Let's see what has he done now...
Synopsis:
Krishna Murthy (RP Patnaik) is a physics lecturer in a College. His Wife Sravani (Anitha) is a music teacher. Krishna Murthy have a good reputation in the locality where he lives and in the college. A blunder committed by a News Channel ruins the clean image of Krishna Murthy. The situation turns even worse every time he tries to prove his innocence. What has Krishna Murthy done to obtain a clean chit forms rest of the tale!
Performances:
As an actor, RP Patnaik failed to create necessary impact on the screen. Neither RP's histrionics nor his body language were pleasing. May be, Casting an established actor in the lead role would have been great.
Anitha is fine as Hero's Wife. Sai Kumar and Nasser were exceptional. They stood as a pillars for 'Manalo Okkadu'. Tanikella Bharani and Banerji have done justice to their roles.

Technicalities:
Music by RP Patnaik is alright. Introduction track 'Madhurame Madhurame' and the song sung by Jesudasu were good. Background Score is in sync with the mood of the film. Camera Work by SJ Siddharth is impressive. Dialogues penned by Thirumal Nag are hard-hitting. Production Values were decent. RP Patnaik has chosen a very bold concept but he partly succeeded in the execution. Screenplay lacked pace to keep the viewers hooked to the screens. But, Few vital scenes & pre-climax will hit the right chord with the audience.
Analysis:
Firstly, RP Patnaik deserves all praise coming his way for choosing a bold concept that most of the Actors/Filmmakers hesitate to attempt. 'Manalo Okkadu' is a contemporary subject which everyone could relate to. The film throws a light on TRP-hungry Media and how the lives of common man get affected due to unwanted hungama created by the News Channels. However, Choosing a wafer-thin storyline for such a serious subject is a matter of concern.
RP Patnaik took up the mission to expose the wrongdoings of Media and make the Media Barons/Journalists realize the responsibility they have. In this process, He focussed more on the kind of mistakes usually happen in a TV Channel. RP, however, couldn't succeed in maintaining a gripping narration. He included too many scenes to establish the Hero as a good human being in the beginning & unethical practices of Media.
The film gets back on the right track only during the Pre-Climax. Credit to Sai Kumar and Nasser for giving their best to these crucial sequences. During the TV Channel debate, Both these Senior Actors used all of their experience to generate terrific impact with hard-hitting dialogues. Even the Climax twist is quite good.
Overall, 'Manalo Okkadu' is a film with good concept which everyone could connect easily. Had if it had the required pace & not too preachy, This RP directorial could have done wonders. You can still give it a try!!
