Mangalampalli Balamuralikrishna is no more

Actually, The actual name of this maestro is Murali Krishna. He received the title 'Balal' from popular Harikatha performer Musunuri Suryanarayana Murty Bhagavatar. He is a native of Sankaraguptam in East Godavari district.
Mangalampalli gave his first live concert at the age of 8. He has created his own Ragas. The most popular among them is Raag Lavangi. His expertise at playing Mridangam, Violin and Kanjira is widely appreciated. Over 400 compositions in multiple languages is his speciality.
In 1991, Mangalampalli was conferred with Padma Vibhushan which is second highest civilian honour in the country. He bagged National Award twice (1976, 1987). French Government honoured him with 'Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres' in 2005.
The demise of Mangalampalli Balamuralikrishna is an irreparable loss. Rest in peace, Sir!
