Movement Lost Its Way: #MeToo Founder
By: Tupaki Desk | 25 Oct 2018 11:36 AM GMTA year after launching #MeToo Campaign, Founder Tarana Burke feels the movement has lost its way. 'Sexual Abuse Victims raised their hands to say 'Me Too' since October 15th, 2017. Millions of people from all walks of life had come forward to support. #MeToo Movement was a success in its first year because it provided victims a ready-made support group which automatically believes them and wants to hear them,' she said.
Tarana Bruke, however, feels #MeToo lost its way because of undue focus to individual perpetrators and media's thirst for drama/salacious stories. She cries foul that Victims who deserves justice have been sidelined after a point of time. '#MeToo is a cultural movement and fight against Rape Culture, not Gender War, Anti-Male & it's not only for white or famous people. That has to change!,' asserts the Founder.
In 2017, Tarana Bruke launched #MeToo campaign against Sexual Abuse. She received the support of 15 million people within two days and people across the World came to know about the painful stories of many women.
