Ever since social media became part and parcel of our lives and video sharing platform like YouTube gained prominence, views and likes took the center stage. Million views concept has become so important than the movie collections. One million views.. fastest one million views.. one million views in two hours.. one lakh likes.. these are the jargons used by cine lovers to show the hype on the film.
There is no standardization in the views and likes concept and there are allegations that the some companies are charging money to manipulate the count of views and likes. YouTube has removed the number views and likes of some movie teasers in the past when they found out that views are manipulated.
Apart from these things, a million views has become a common thing and even a small hero can achieve the feat nowadays. With the increasing technology, usage of smart phones and highspeed internet..everybody has an instant access to YouTube. Considering all these things, some netiznes are commenting that there is no need to consider these views and likes records. It's time to move on.. as we moved on from celebrating success of a film with number 100 days centers to the collections. Having said and done, are fans ready to accept the change?
