When Mohan Babu warned Kota?
By: Tupaki Desk | 23 May 2017 10:54 AM GMTKota Srinivas Rao joined politics with the support of BJP Leader Vidyasagar Rao. He contested on BJP Ticket in 1999 polls from Vijayawada East constituency which is known to be a strong hold of Congress.
During campaigning, Kota visited each and every house and office in the Assembly Segment. Post the polling day, He came back to Hyderabad to continue the shootings. That's when he was shooting for Mohan Babu's 'Postman' in Dilsukhnagar. A song shoot was planned for 3 Days and hence Kota decided to be in Vijayawada on the Counting Day by making use of this break.
To his shock, Mohan Babu discouraged Kota saying visiting Vijayawada is useless as he won't be winning at all. He even warned Kota that people might pelt stones at his car if he goes to the counting centre. Still, Kota went to Vijayawada and exuded confidence before media that he would win at least with a margin of 1 vote. Fortunately, He received 3,996 votes majority though his election expenditure is just Rs 11 lakh.
When he landed on the sets of 'Postman' after the victory, Mohan Babu welcomed him with a garland and bouquet. Collection King even said, 'You won the seat which belongs to Congress party since Independence'.
