Mohan Lal's new film to stream on OTT

Mohan Lal, the Superstar of Malayalam Cinema works like he is in his early 30's. The actor tries to release 4 to 5 films every year and he even reduced his weight to appear slimmer than he usually is, in his recent films.
The actor has took the market of Malayalam Cinema to newer heights with his big hits like Drishyam, Puli Murugan and Lucifer. Due to pandemic, even he also sticked to OTT releases like other Malayalam stars.
His Drishyam 2 created a sensation upon debut in Amazon Prime Video. After that he and his producers had long tussle with exhibitors, distributors about the theatrical release of his long awaited big budget historical epic, Marakkar.
Priyadarshan won National Award for direction and even the film won award too. Movie released recently on 3rd December after two years hold period, in theatres.
There was a long debate about film releasing on OTT platforms directly or debuting in theatres. Following Dulquer Salman's Kurup success, Marakkar producers also decided go for theatrical release.
But film bombed at the box office after initial weekend. Movie couldn't sustain any momentum with weak word of mouth. The biographical drama did not connect with audiences even though craft won critical praise. Story and screenplay did not impress theatre going audiences, critics.
Well, trying their luck on OTT platform, movie is getting ready to stream on Amazon Prime Video from 17th December. It is a nice historical movie with great production values for OTT audiences to enjoy as they will have much more patience and time to appreciate intricate details.
