'Mukunda', the launch pad of Varun Tej, ended up as a flop venture just because of lack of entertainment values. Varun scored bownie points for screen presence and his ability to perform fights very well. Music, Cinematography and Production Values are the other positives of this project.
As per trade, 'Mukunda' theatrical rights were sold out for Rs 18 crore. Although Producers have made profits, Distributors and Exhibitors have burnt their hands to some extent.

Ceeded: Rs 1.65 crore
Vizag: Rs 1.20 crore
East: Rs 1.20 crore
West: Rs 1.20 crore
Krishna: Rs 72 lakhs
Guntur: Rs 1.15 crore
Nellore: Rs 38 lakhs
Mukunda AP & Nizam Total Collections (share): Rs 10.35 crore
Mukunda Worldwide Total Collections (share): Rs 12.25 crore (including Karnataka: Rs 1.05 crore; Rest of India: Rs 15 lakhs; Overseas: Rs 70 lakhs)
