Bollywood Actor Uday Chopra of 'Dhoom' franchise fame endorsed the legalization of Marijuana which is banned in India. 'I feel India should legalize marijuana. Firstly, It's part of our culture. Secondly, I think if legalized and taxed it can be a huge revenue source. Not to mention it will remove the criminal element associated with it. Plus and most importantly it has a lot of medical benefits!,' he opined.
As the issue got bigger, Uday Chopra had explained that he isn't an user of marijuana but it's legalization would be a wise move, given our history with the plant. He went on to say Bhaang (similar to marijuana) was used during Holi and even Sadhus smoke it in emulation of Shiva for Mahashivratri.
Quickly, Mumbai Police told Uday Chopra that he should keep in mind that consumption, possession and transportation of marijuana invites harsh punishment as per provisions of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
