The film makers of Om Namo Venkatesaya initially planned to release the film on the occasion of Sankranthi. But they have changed their mindset later as the Sankranthi competition was very high. So they have chosen a date in February without any competition. They have released the film on February 10. Om Namo Venkatesaya target is mainly family audience. As they did not come to the theaters, movie collections remained poor.

As examinations are one month away, families did not go to the theaters for watcing ONV. Youth are the only audience who usually watch films irrespective of the season. They have preferred 'Nenu Local', which is a youthful entertainer.. their second option was S3, which is a mass entertainer. With this ONV got very less footfalls at the theaters.

While speaking at the promotions of ONV before release Nag said that "Some good films suffered because of they have released at the wrong timing. Some bad films fared well at the box office becuase of the good timing in release". ONV suffered because of the bad timing in release. The situation would have been different if the movie had relased in Sankranthi season or Summer. Had the film makers released the movie in the Sankranthi season.. audience might have accepted themovie as they are in festival mood.

We have see how a small film like Shatamanam Bhavati registered collections at the box office when it was released in the festival season. The situation would have been same if ONV had the Sankranthi release. Even though Nagarjuna knows how important the release date, he made a mistake by opting February 10 release. Nagarjuna will surely remember this lesson forever. There is no doubt about it.
