Since 'Gulabi', Krishna Vamsi has created many memorable films in his career. But, He is going through a bad patch in the past decade. Even the golden opportunity in the form of 'Govindudu Andarivadele' was under utilized. After a long gap, KV arrived with 'Nakshatram' which is a film based on Cops. Has the Creative Genius delivered his best?
Synopsis:
Rama Rao (Sundeep Kishan) is born in Police Family, his Great Grandfather, Grandfather & Father have served the Police Department. To carry forward the family legacy, He always wanted to be a Sub Inspector and strives hard to achieve the goal. He, however, wasn't able to qualify for the job for various reasons. That's when he decides to perform the duty of a cop even without wearing the Uniform. How his life changed completely because of this decision forms rest of the tale!
Performances:
Sundeep Kishan played his part sincerely and the hardwork put in by him is visible on the screen. He excelled in the emotional scene after losing the last opportunity to become an SI. Though he goes overboard at times, Overall Sundeep left a mark of his own on this project.
Sai Dharam Tej's Get-up and Style have been impressive but his role wasn't etched properly. Mega Hero is pretty ordinary in terms of performance.
Regina and Pragya Jaiswal's glamour show is pleasing to watch. They, however, irritate with their acting skills.
Prakash Raj tests the patience of audience with loud acting. Even Tulasi is no different. Tanish scores brownie points in the role of drug addict. His look is apt and performance is worth mentioning. He, however, appears to be misfit to play main antagonist in a film with such big casting.

Technicalities:
Three Composers have worked for 'Nakshatram'. Romantic Songs of Sundeep-Regina & Tej-Pragya stand out in the album. Even picturization of these songs is a feast for eyes. Cinematography is just okay. Though many actors including Sai Dharam Tej worked for free and budget crossed initial estimates by 30%, Production Values aren't up to the mark. The overall appeal of the movie gives an impression of watching either an old film or long-delayed project. Upon watching 'Nakshatram', One get the feeling if he is same Krishna Vamsi who delivered many classics a decade ago. Creative Genius disappoints very badly with this Cop Drama with crime backdrop.
Analysis:
No matter how many flops Krishna Vamsi might deliver, Movie Buffs would look forward to watch every new movie of him. That's the kind of impact he created with films such as 'Gulabi', 'Ninne Pelladutha', 'Sindhuram', 'Khadgam' and 'Murari'. Even some of the aspects in his flop films have been appreciated by the Movie Lovers. Unfortunately, 'Nakshatram' hardly have any positives to make people throng the theaters.
People assumed 'Nakshatram' could be a hard-hitting film like 'Khadgam' after Krishna Vamsi claimed he is 100 percent satisfied with the final outcome. However, Audience found the Cop Drama outdated, illogical and senseless. Almost all the Actors go overboard while performing and the kind of intensity one expects from KV's film goes missing. Neither humour nor emotions to which viewers could connect exist in this movie.
Too much hype was given to Alexander role done by Sai Dharam Tej in the promos. But, The character neither have depth nor any story emotion to elevate the movie. Pragya Jaiswal's Role doesn't fit in the proceedings at all. The song featuring Sundeep Kishan and Pragya Jaiswal irritate the audience.
Editing is worse to say the least. Audience find 'Nakshatram' unbearable after watching it for 2 hours 46 minutes. Trimming by at least 20 Minutes could have controlled the damage to some extent. Many a times, Audience wait for the Interval and Climax...that's a dangerous sign for any project. Overall, 'Nakshatram' isn't the kind of film moviegoers expect from a Director of Krishna Vamsi's stature.
Bottom Line: Shows 'Stars' in Daylight!
