Nani: Will Ban Myself If My Next Films Release On OTT
By: Tupaki Desk | 2 Sep 2021 3:01 AM GMTSpeaking at the pre-release event of Nani's Tuck Jagadish, Nani, who plays the central role in the Shiva Nirvana directorial said he will ban himself from Tollywood if his forthcoming films skip theatrical release and release on OTT. "I am ready to ban myself from Tollywood if my forthcoming films have the opportunity to release in theaters but skip the same and premiere directly on OTT. I am an ardent supporter of theatres and there are no two ways about it. Our intention was to release Tuck Jagadish in theatres but the prevailing situation didn't favour the case and we then had to back out. Releasing our film on OTT was never the idea but that is how it turned out," Nani said.
Nani went on to say that he really felt really bad after Telangana based film distributors and Telangana Film Chamber misread his intentions and alleged that he was siding with OTT release. "The distributors hinted that they would be even ready to ban me. But I am saying this in front of you all. If my next films have the chance to release in theatres but bypass the same and release on OTT, I will ban myself from Tollywood" he said. Nani's honest and sincere comments struck a chord with those in attendance at the event and this statement drew a round applause from the media and other attendees.
The director of Tuck Jagadish, Shiva Nirvana too suggested that Amazon Prime Video release wasn't their frontline choice but things didn't align for theatrical release and they were left with no other option but to release the film directly on OTT. The entire team of Tuck Jagadish seemed disappointed about the OTT release prospect but they were taking things in a positive stride. The conditions are as such and there is nothing much anyone can do, given the Covid situation and the restrained theatrical revenues.
Tuck Jagadish is now gearing up for its world premieres on Amazon Prime Video on the 10th of September. The trailer of the film was launched in last night's event and it implies that Tuck Jagadish is a proper family entertainer. The film stars Nani, Ritu Varma, Aishwarya Rajesh, Jagapathi Babu and others in important roles.
