After successive failures, Sumanth took a long gap and finally picked up the Telugu remake of Bollywood hit 'Vicky Donor' as his comeback venture. The title 'Naruda Donaruda', Theatrical Trailer and Aggressive Promotions has generated decent buzz. Finally, This entertainer based on sperm donation hit the screens Today. Is the Telugu version as good as the Original? Check it outâ¦
Synopsis:
Vikram alias Vicky (Sumanth), an unemployed youth, lives with her Mother (Sri Lakshmi) and Grandmother in Hyderabad. The family earns a livelihood from the beauty parlour run by Vicky's Mom. One fine day, Fertility Doctor Anjaneyulu (Tanikella Bharani) comes to know about the healthy sperm count of Vicky and suggests him to turn into a Sperm Donor. Although Vicky was hesitant initially, He agrees to be a sperm donor as it fetches him good income. He, however, doesn't disclose his profession to anyone. Meanwhile, Vicky falls in love with bank employee Ashima Roy (Pallavi) and gets married. Trouble begins after his Wife gets to know about Vicky's profession. How the Young Couple handles the emotional journey forms the rest of the tale!
Performances:
First of all, Sumanth should be appreciated for accepting such a bold role. He does what is expected from him as a Sperm Donor and would always be proud of taking up the challenge.
Pallavi Subhash seems to be a wrong choice for playing the female lead. She is no match to Yami Gautam who did the role in the Original.
Tanikella Bharani generates humor on regular basis as Fertility Expert. Sri Lakshmi as Hero's Mom does justice to her role. Suman Shetty is aptly cast.
Pros:
Bold Concept
Tanikella Bharani
Cons:
Direction
Sluggish Narration
Production Values
Technicalities:
Music by Sri Charan Pakala is just okay. Shaneel Diyo's Camera Work is fine. Production Values were poor. Budget Constraints had a negative impact on the overall outcome. Usage of double meaning dialogues might irk a section of people. Not much changes have been made to the original story & screenplay. Director Mallik Ram doesn't leave a mark of his own. He neither made changes to suit the Telugu nativity nor able to retain the soul of the original.
Analysis:
'Vicky Donor' has been one of the very few critically acclaimed and commercially successful films of Bollywood in 2012. This Soojith Sircar directorial is a bold attempt but people appreciated it due to the impressive narration.
Unfortunately, 'Naruda Donaruda' is no where close to the Original. Telugu Makers have failed terribly in the process of retaining the soul. The Casting of Heroine itself is a big minus for the remake. Tanikella Bharani comes out with flying colors as Fertility Doctor, the role which fetched National Award for Annu Kapoor.
Production Values were certainly not up to the mark. Getting inspiration from 'Pellichoopulu'/'Kshanam' model is fine but execution matters the most. Inexperience of the Debutante Director is quite evident in many scenes. While the romantic scenes of Lead Pair weren't handled properly, Some of the crucial scenes lacked the required depth.
Overall, 'Naruda Donarudu' falters due to ineffective narration and below par production values. Only Tanikella Bharani is the bright spot in the whole movie. All one can say here is...A good concept has gone wasted!
Bottom Line: Strike Rate not promising enough!
