Netflix Bags 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' Rights For A Whopping Price

Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Alia Bhatt's much-anticipated film 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' has been in the headlines ever since it was announced in 2019.
The shooting of the biographical crime drama is in full swing and is on the verge of the completion. The film has been adapted from one of the chapters of noted author Hussain Zaidiâs book, "Mafia Queens of Mumbai".
The latest update is that leading streaming giant Netflix has reportedly bagged the digital rights of Ganguly Katiyawadi for Rs 100 crore. The film is being made with a huge budget of around Rs 150 crore and the makers want to sell the theatrical and satellite rights for a big budget.
The Mafia drama features Alia as Gangubai, one of the most influential, loved and admired madams from Kamathipura during the 1960s. Sanjay Leela Bhansali is co-producing the film with producer Jayantilal Gada's Pen India Limited.
