New headache for Tollywoods Sankranthi films
X
This Sankranthi season, we will be witnessing a frenzy of sorts at the Telugu Box office. Big-ticket film, Bangarraju, and a couple of small yet notable films - Rowdy Boys and Hero are hitting the silver screens this festival season.

In what could be considered a new problem for the Sankranthi releases, the government of Andhra Pradesh has announced a night curfew and 50% occupancy at cinema halls.

In order to negate the effect of the night curfews, theatre management should orchestrate new release slots. They will have to start the morning shows as early as they possibly can and then push the second shows forward in order to comply with the timing regulations.

Also, we often see heavy footfalls at cinema halls during the Sankranthi season. But that won't be possible with the 50% occupancy regulation that has been put to effect in Andhra Pradesh.

While doubts are already being raised if Telugu movie-goers will step out to watch new releases in theatres due to Covid third wave, the new regulations set by the government are giving a new headache to forthcoming releases.

But it needs to be noted that films like Krack and Uppena released with similar restrictions but they managed to put up a good show at the box office. The onus is now on Bangarraju, Rowdy Boys, and Hero to pull the audience to theatres in big numbers this Sankranthi season.
