Akkineni Nagarjuna is always willing to encourage Young Talent. With immense faith on the subject of 'Nirmala Convent', MAA Management choose it as the first movie on the home banner. Srikanth's Son Roshan is being launched with this teenage love story. Nag himself played a pivotal role in the movie. Let's see how well its been made...

Synopsis:

Bhupathi Raju (Aditya Menon), a landlord in Bhupathi Nagaram, has a land dispute with a Poor Farmer David (Surya). David's Son Syam (Rosham) and Bhupathi Raju's Daughter Shanti (Shriya Sharma) study in the same school and love blossoms between them. Bhupathi Raju throws a challenge to Syam to give his consent for their marriage. What did the Teenage Boy do to hold the hand of his Lover forms the rest of the tale.

Performances:

Srikanth can't ask for a better launch pad for his son Roshan. The Youngster excelled in the role of Syam. He is confident, looks composed and showed the kind of maturity required for the character. He appears to be well-balanced even during the combination scenes with Nag. On a whole, This Star Kid will have a bright future if made the right choices.

Shriya Sharma is quite good and her cute expressions were a treat to watch. She, however, appears like a kid from few angles and looks awkward when presented in glamorous manner.

Nagarjuna is flawless in his real life character and completes his task with utmost ease. Especially, Screen Presence of King is terrific.

Aditya Menon fails to impress in the Negative role. Surya and Anita Chowdary were perfect as Hero's Parents. Nothing much to say about rest of the casting.

Pros:

Lead Pair

Nagarjuna

Music

Cons:

Screenplay

Direction

Editing

Technicalities:

'Nirmala Convent' is technically sound. Music by Roshan Saluri and Camera Work by Visweswar stood as a major attractions. All the songs have been good. Background Score is alright. Cinematographer captured the village atmosphere beautifully and showed his mark in picturization of songs. Editing lacked sharpness. Production Values are appreciable. None of the Dialogues leave a lasting impression. Director Naga Koteswara Rao could neither impress with Story nor Screenplay.

Analysis:

'Nirmala Convent' is nothing different from the countless Love Stories, based on poor boy & rich girl, Telugu movie buffs have seen so far. The only new aspect would be the inclusion of 'Meelo Evaru Koteeswarudu' concept, loosely based on 'Slumdog Millionaire', in the plot. This project launches Srikanth's Son Roshan as a confident Actor, Presents Nagarjuna as the Superstar he is known to the World & Brings the most successful TV Show to Silver Screen.

Lead Pair, Nag's Screen Presence, Songs, Few Feel-Good Moments & Emotional Scenes in 'Nirmala Convent' engage the Viewer to some extent. It, however, fails to meet the expectations and ends up as just average product. Audience who expect freshness will be left disappointed completely.

Love Story of Lead Pair hasn't been designed properly. It looked forced and some of the heavy dialogues at crucial junctures doesn't sink. Picturization of Kotha Kotha Basha & Duet of Lead Pair were good. The hospital scene of Hero established him as an intelligent guy. Comedy scenes of Thagubothu Ramesh and Jogi Brothers are boring. Interval Block isn't exciting enough.

Nagarjuna's entry in Second Half gives some hope. However, Audience lose interest on the proceedings soon after taking diversion to 'Meelo Evaru Koteeswarudu' and everything gets predictable from then onwards. Hero goes in search of Answers during MEK from his real life experiences. This concept was lifted from 'Slumdog Millionaire' but the intensity and emotion that was present in the original is missing here. Even the Climax looks very ordinary.

Bottom Line: A Perfect Launch for Roshan!
