No Clear Winner Among Sankranti Releases
By: Tupaki Desk | 12 Jan 2019 11:28 AM GMTSankranthi 2016 was the best in the history of Telugu Cinema. All the three notable releases (Khaidi No 150, GPSK, Shatamanam Bhavathi) hit the bull's eye. Unfortunately, None of the New Releases during Sankranthi 2017 and 2018 were able to meet the expectations. Last year, While 'Agnyaathavaasi' bombed, 'Jaya Simha' & 'Gang' managed to get break-even.
For 2019 Sankranthi, Four Biggies clashed at the Box Office. None of them were able to obtain unanimous positive talk and that's worrying the trade circles.
'NTR Kathanayakudu' managed to get positive reviews but the collections were poor. If the revenues doesn't improve, It would end up as a cost failure.
'Petta' managed to get a decent opening considering the limited screen count but word-of-mouth isn't encouraging. Vintage Rajini is the USP of this flick. Are Telugu People still crazy about Tamil Superstar?
'Vinaya Vidheya Rama' had a terrific Day 1 (Non-Baahubali Record) but neither reviews nor mouth talk are good. Revenues might fall drastically on Day 2 itself or after the end of festival season.
Today's release 'F2' managed to get only an average talk. It missed a golden opportunity to make the most out of the failure of other three movies.
Overall, None of the Four Movies have the content to become a blockbuster. It's up to the movie buffs to decide which among them would be their choice for this festival season.
