Unfortunately, None of the Tollywood rnProducers neither officially brought the rights nor given credit to the rnOriginal. PVP began a good tradition with 'Oopiri'. He bought the rightsrn of the hugely-appreciated French movie 'The Intouchables' to make a rnTelugu-Tamil bilingual. The much-awaited 'Oopiri' had hit the screens rnToday. What one can expect from this so-called life-changing film?
Synopsis:
Seenurn (Karthi), a small-time crook, gets released from Jail on parole. None rnof his family members like him and his Mother (Jayasudha) disowns him rnbecause of his bad behaviour. To be able to get rid of the case filed rnagainst him, Seenu has to prove his good conduct and that's when he rnjoins as a caretaker of Vikramaditya (Nagarjuna), a billionaire who is arn quadriplegic. What change does this development bring in the lives of rnthese individuals, who were poles apart, forms the rest of the story.
Performances:
Hatsrn off to Nagarjuna for taking a huge risk of playing a quadriplegic rninspite of being a mainstream hero. He can't use anything other than hisrn eyes to express throughout the movie. He did struggle a bit initially rnbut showed his class from the moment he got into the skin of the rncharacter. Particularly, He is excellent in the emotional scenes in rnSecond Half.
Karthi steals the show with his innocent looks and rnmass appeal. He takes the responsibility to generate humour and also rnmoved the audience with his performance in emotional scenes.
Althoughrn her role has less significance as both Nag-Karthi take centrestage, rnTamanna played her part to perfection. Jayasudha & the girl who rnplayed Karthi's Sister does a fine job. Prakash Raj played a dignified rnrole & tickles the funny bone in the combination scenes with Karthi.rn Anushka, Shriya, Gabriella and Adivi Sesh does guest roles. Ali and rnTanikella Bharani were alright.

Technicalities:
'Oopiri'rn is Technically sound. After 'Bhale Bhale Magadivoy', Gopi Sundar yet rnagain proves what he could deliver if a right script comes his way with rnsplendid background score. PS Vinod's Camera Work is magnificent. The rnway he captured Nag's Residence & Paris is praise worthy. Dialogues rnof Abburi Ravi are meaningful and touching. Production Values were rich.rn No one might have anticipated a feel-good movie like 'Oopiri' from the rnDirector who delivered mass entertainers such as Munna, Brundavanam and rnYevadu. The adaptation of 'The Intouchables' to suit the sensibilities rnof Telugu-Tamil audience is superbly done and retaining the soul of the rnOriginal is the key for success.
Analysis:
'Oopiri'rn is a perfect blend of Humour & Emotions. While the ample funny rnmoments will bring a smile on everyone's faces, emotional scenes at rncrucial junctures touch the hearts. This feel-good movie is all about rnthe camaraderie between a wheelchair-bound Billionaire who wasn't rncontent with his life and a thief who believes money solves all the rnproblems.
Nagarjuna is simply outstanding in 'Oopiri' and this rnis a role which earns him more respect. Karthi, on the other hand, rncarries the whole film on his shoulders in the first half with his rncarefree attitude and humor. He was able to do that without the support rnof comedians. Here, Painting sequence remains as a major highlight and rnKarth-Prakash Raj scenes are hilarious.
On the flip side, Vamsirn Paidipally lost the track in the Second Half. Particularly, Nag's rndating with a Dancer and scenes of Anuskha who played his ex-flame rnweren't effective. Karthi-Tamanna's song appeared unnecessary. Even the rnitem number in First Half looked misfit. These songs have damaged the rntone of the movie to some extent. Post Paris episode, Everything falls rnin place and the last half-an-hour is the heart of 'Oopiri'. Emotional rnscenes in pre-climax and climax have been exceptional. Lack of too much rnmelodrama in the end is a welcome change.
Though it couldn't rnmatch the emotional quotient in 'The Intouchables', 'Oopiri' succeeds inrn retaining the soul and scores better than the original in terms of rnhumour. Youth, Families and Multiplex Audience connect big time with rn'Oopiri'. Its too early to predict how far Karthi's characterization rnwill draw the masses to the theatres. Overall, 'Oopiri' is one of the rnfinest films ever made in Telugu Cinema.
