OTT Platforms Royal Ignoring Flop Films!
By: Tupaki Desk | 28 April 2023 11:14 PM ISTNatural Star Nani scored a big hit with mass entertainer Dasara and the movie made a big sound in the northern belt as well. Recently, the film was released on Netflix. The leading OTT platform promoted digital release in a big way. A few weeks after the theatrical release Dasara was released on April 27th.
The very next day Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja starrer Ravanasura started streaming on Amazon Prime Video on April 28. But there is a big difference in how the two platforms dealt with the two films. Amazon Prime did not make any noise about the Ravi Teja starrer.
This shows that the OTT platforms are not showing interest in flop films. The platforms are not promoting flop films and just streaming the films. Usually, Amazon Prime Video is known for promoting the OTT streaming of its films. But that did not happen with the Ravanasura film.
Not just Ravanasura, this happened with many films and the OTT platforms did not show interest in promoting the film. Users don't show any interest in watching flop films on OTT platforms and money spent on promoting the films will be wasted. So the platforms are not ready to waste their money.
OTT is still one of the leading sources of entertainment for consumers and they are watching content across the languages. As they can watch films from other languages as well, they are not showing any interest in watching flop films and those films won't record good viewership too.
