The OTT platforms have become the go to destination for the film makers in Tollywood, when the theatres and multi plexes were shut during the first wave of Coronavirus.

However, Tollywood films like V and Nishabdham which have skipped the theatres and streamed on Amazon Prime failed to create any impact. Back to back flops made the OTT platforms think twice to buy Telugu films for big amount.

After the theatres were allowed to open, films like Krack, Uppena, Vakeel Saab and others gave a hope that, despite the 50 percent occupancy, films can make good business.

But with the inception of second wave, night curfew in Telugu States came into effect and the theatres were forced to shut until further notice. The OTT platforms are now making using of the situation and started their lobbying to buy films.

The OTT platforms are eyeing on small budget films and medium budget films. It is said that, the negotiations are underway to get the streaming rights of these films.

On the other hand, high budget films and star studded films are in no mood to go for OTT release. The makers of these films want to go for theatrical release as OTT platforms are gaining less response.
