OTT Releases Damaging The Dubbing Market!
By: Tupaki Desk | 17 Sep 2020 1:05 PM GMTPost lockdown, the filmmakers are inclining a lot towards direct digital releases as it is the only way to recover their investments. The theatres may not get back to complete glory from another few months which paves way for a lot more OTT releases. While this seems to be a viable plan as of now, it is creating more damage to the industry.
Films released in an OTT platform will be released in multiple languages or can be given subtitles which makes it easy for everyone to watch the film. Previously, films like 'Pulimurgan' which was a good hit in Malayalam came in Telugu as 'Manyam Puli' and did great business. The same goes for many Tamil films that were dubbed and released into Telugu. But it may not the situation with OTT releases as the dubbing industry may be damaged a lot. The producers need to give the dubbing versions to the OTT platforms which cuts all the income through the Hindi dubbing rights and other language releases.
Now, Anushka's 'Nishabdham' is getting released soon on Amazon Prime and it is being released in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada languages at the same time.
