Outrage on Valimais meaningless Telugu title

he makers of Ajith Kumar's Valimai announced that the film will be getting pan-India release. They had even unveiled new posters of the film to publicize the arrival of the Telugu and Tamil versions. Interestingly, the makers had used the same title - Valimai for all three languages. For some odd reason, the makers opted to use Valimai title for the Telugu version and that has sparked an outrage on social media now.

"What does Valimai even mean in Telugu? It doesn't have any novel meaning. The Telugu translation of the word Valimai is Balam (Strength) and they could have used the same. Why couldn't the makers be considerate enough to alter the title while releasing the film in Telugu? How can they expect the audience to step out to watch the film in theatres if they don't even care about giving it a proper relatable title?," an enraged Telugu social media user commented.

Well, it is true that the title Valimai doesn't ring a bell for the Telugu audience. It was always bound to draw flak from the native audience. Not going with a meaningful title is now coming back to haunt the makers as Telugu audience are breathing fire on them.

Meanwhile, there are rumors that the government of Tamil Nadu is set to order shut down of theatres starting from today. It is heard that the chief minister's office will be passing the relevant orders, asking cinema halls to seize operations effective immediately. If this is the case, then we can expect Valimai to get postponed indefinitely. This would certainly leave Ajith's fans disappointed as they have been waiting for a long time to watch their beloved superstar on the big screens.

Valimai is a proper action thriller directed by H Vinoth. The film has Ajith Kumar in the role of an ex-biker turned cop who goes to any extent to nab a gang of bike smugglers. The film has an interesting premise. It is slated for theatrical release on the 13th of January, but that is bound to change, depending on the Covid situation in Tamil Nadu. If the government orders theatre managements to seize operations, then the film won't release as planned.
