Trailer Talk: Padmavati Is Intense

Bollywood filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali is known for his epic historical dramas and grandeur in films. His latest film 'Padmavati' starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor, Ranveer Singh is no different. The makers have released the trailer of the film today. The 3-minute 9-second trailer gives a glimpse of the intense emotional drama.

The trailer highlights the emotional ride of Padmavati a Rajput queen and her husband Shahid Kapoor when the enemy strikes their kingdom. Ranveer Singh looks menacing as Alauddin Khilji. The trailer has very few dialogues but the Deepika's "Rajput ki kangan me utni taaqat hai jitni Rajput ki talwaar mein hai"(The bangles of a Rajput woman has the same strength as Rajput sword has) dialogue stands out. The visuals look grand and the background score is the highlight of the trailer.

Padmavati is based on folklore story which says 14th-century ruler Alauddin Khilji fell in love with Padmini, the queen of Chittor. But Rani Padmini chooses honour over a luxurious life. She and other women of Chittor killed themselves by jumping into a fire - a practice called Jauhar(Sati). 'Padmavati' is slated for release on December 1.
