When one movie comes a blockbuster, then more such genre movies will come out. The makers will try to take advantage of the trend that is going on in the industry. Earlier, during the biopic trend, so many biopics came out. Now, it seems like the period drama trend is going on.
Recently, Ram Charan has scored a memorable blockbuster movie with 'Rangastalam' which is a period drama and topped the non-Baahubali records. Megastar Chiranjeevi is also going to come up with one such period drama 'Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy' which is also going to be the biopic on the first ever rebellion against the British. Now, it seems like the period drama trend is going on in Bollywood as well. Featuring star cast, Karan Johar's 'Kalank' is also going to be a period drama. The recently released teaser of the film has received a thumping response from the audience. Another upcoming period drama that is grabbing the attention is 'Bhuj' starring Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt, Parineeti Chopra and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead roles.
If the buzz is to be believed, Ajay Devgan will be playing the role of an air force commander whereas Parineeti Chopra will be seen as a secret agent like Alia Bhatt in 'Raazi'. Even in Telugu, Rajamouli's upcoming prestigious pan-Indian project 'RRR' is also a period movie which runs with pre Independence backdrop set in the 1920s.
