This ritual is mandatory to women in North India. But Poonam Kaur posting pictures of herself doing Karwa Chauth has gotten a lot of attention. Many assumed that this custom needs to be followed only by married women and Poonam Kaur performing this pooja made everyone think that she got married secretly. Poonam decided to give a strong reply to them and tweeted a few pictures where it has been described that even unmarried girls can do Karwa Chauth.
