Katamarayudu fizzles further in front of Guru!
By: Tupaki Desk | 2 April 2017 1:40 PM GMTPawan Kalyan's Katamarayudu released as the first big release for this Summer kicking off the big season of releases. Like last year, once again Ugadi saw the arrival of a big film but once again the film proved to be a disaster. Distributors expected the movie to become a huge hit looking at the example of another remake, Khaidi No.150 and bought the rights of the movie for a total of 115 crores. The pre-business of the movie was recorded to be a Non-Bahubali record and fans of the actor became ultra happy with the hype.
Even though the movie was a remake of the already dubbed Ajith Kumar movie, Veeram/Veerudokkade, distributors and exhibitors believed in the magic of Pawan Kalyan at the box office. The movie as expected failed to impress audiences and noted to be another disaster for Pawan Kalyan. While fans and distributors were expecting the movie to survive for another weekend at least and end up at a decent 65 to 70 crs closing, Guru changed the equation.
No one absolutely, no one were worried about Puri Jagannath's Rogue but with Guru, many were expecting the movie to have slight effect on collections, in April. But the film preponed to the last week of March and the second weekend expectations of the distributors have gone to the doodles. Further, Guru getting a positive response from common audience pushed Katamarayudu even further down the disaster lane and the distributors are looking even bigger losses than expected.
