With 'Srimanthudu' becoming a blockbuster, Mahesh Babu confined himself to subtle and dignified roles in all of his films. He started picking message-oriented and content-driven films from then. Despite being happy about them, fans always wanted to see him in non-serious roles like 'Dhookudu' and 'Khaleja'. So, Mahesh decided to satisfy them with 'Sarileru Neekevvaru'.
