Bollywood Comes Up With A Plan To Reduce The Rents!
By: Tupaki Desk | 20 May 2020 1:40 PM GMTThe entire film industry is facing a lot of troubles from the past few months but the situation of producers who are bankrolling heavy budget films is even tougher. Apart from waiting for the shootings to restart again, they also need to pay rents for studios in which they erected massive sets.
The film city lands in Mumbai are actually owned by the government. So, the film industry has apparently come up with a decision to handle this issue. Currently, the sets of 'Thalaivi' starring Kangana Ranaut and Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Gangubai' starring Alia Bhatt have been built in the film city lands. The sets were worth 5 crores and 19 crores worth respectively which is quite huge.
In order to reduce the burden, the Producers Association of Hindi film industry reportedly approached the government to give a rent waiver as these sets are left alone with no shootings happening in them from the last two months. Also, it looks like there will be no shootings for the next 3 months considering the victim count. With monsoons coming our way, there is a chance of the sets getting damaged too. So, the producers are asking the government to waive the rent so that it reduces the burden to a certain extent and will help in repairing the damages that may occur in the coming days.
