Producers Not At All Favouring OTT Release
By: Tupaki Desk | 3 Jun 2020 8:08 AM GMTThe on-going pandemic has left us all in a crisis. The demand for content on TV, OTTs has surged double the need and all the platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney Hotstar are desperately adding content to help their audience.
Even after these many efforts, demand for content is not ending and that’s where the OTTs are running back of producers.
In Bollywood, almost all the small films have released on Amazon Prime recently. The sudden lockdown has left the producers of the film just with one option and that is- sell it to OTT!
The trend went peaks with Suriya's film 'Ponmagal Vandhal' starring Jyothika. The film that made huge controversies couldn't impress the audience and was proved a dud.
Now Producers are realizing that content is king and premiering on OTT may not be a viable option for good returns as they have a pay per view model of revenue that do not fetch good money with emerging threat from piracy. It is said that many producers of big films are waiting for theaters to reopen so that their lives become normal!
