Nara Rohit is the only hero in TFI to have three releases in the past two months. After 'Tuntari' and 'Savitri', He is testing his luck with 'Raja Cheyyi Vesthe' which also stars his cousin Taraka Ratna in a negative role. Yet again, Our Charming Hero preferred to work with a debutante Director. Did the gamble paid off?
Synopsis:
Love blossoms between Raja Ram (Nara Rohit), an aspiring director, and software professional Chaitra (Isha Talwar). A Star Director who doesn't reveal his identity offers to launch Raja Ram as a filmmaker but asks him to pen the climax of his movie to test his calibre. Impressed with the climax block penned by him, This So-Called Leading Director sends the photo of notorious gangster Vijay Manik and a gun to Raja Ram only to blackmail him to accomplish the assassination of the anti-social element. Did Raja Ram kill Vijay Manik or Not? Watch 'Raja Cheyyi Vesthe' in theaters to know how the film ended!
Performances:
Nara Rohit has been shifting from serious roles to characters which bring out the humorous angle in him. This transformation could be noticed in his recent project, Whether its 'Tuntari' or 'Savitri' or 'Raja Cheyyi Vesthe'. Rohit does well in romantic & emotional scenes. Especially, He did an exceptional job in the last half hour of the movie.
Taraka Ratna's makeover and screen presence were impressive. He will go a long way if preferred roles with negative shades in future.
Isha Talwar looks pretty but doesn't win the hearts with performance. Srinivas Avasarala is first rate. Rajiv Kanakala, Shashank, Ravi Varma & Shivaji Raja have done justice to their roles.
Pros:
Nara Rohit
Taraka Ratna's Makeover
Twists n Turns
Cons:
Slow Pace
Editing
Technicalities:
Sai Kartheek has done his best for 50th Project. Couple of songs & Background Score have been composed well. Of course, Placement of few songs is bad and they spoil the flow of the movie. Camera Work by Bhaskar Samala is fine. Editing could have been far better. Production Values of Varahi Chalana Chitra live up to its reputation. Pradeep Chilukuri tried to leave a mark of his own on the project. Screenplay written by him is quite innovative but lacked clarity & pace at times. Dialogues penned by him were good. Overall, This Debutante makes an impressive start and may get better with each project.
Analysis:
Hero, an aspiring director, falls in the trap set by a stranger and he was blackmailed to kill the Villain who is a Gangster inspite of no rivalry between them. Hero & Villain meet for the first time only in the climax. May be, This point has excited both Nara Rohit and Sai Korrapati to approve Pradeep Chilukuri's script.
Even though 'Raja Cheyyi Vesthe' is a routine revenge drama, What makes it appeal is its novel screenplay. Director kickstarted the narration with Villain's role instead of Hero and made sure there were twists at regular intervals. He succeeded in building the curiosity of audience with the mind game between a notorious criminal and innocent assistant director.
On the flip side, The reason behind Revenge Drama looked unconvincing and lacks emotional connect. Editing is another setback, trimming at least 15 minutes of the Second Half could have improved the movie watching experience.
Romantic Track in the movie should have been more compact. Still, The comedy in these portions will bring the much needed relief. Interval Twist set the right tone for Second Half and multiple twists makes the proceedings interesting thereafter. On a whole, 'Raja Cheyyi Vesthe' have it moments to please the movie lovers.
Bottom Line: Watchable Mind Game!
