Rajamouli Didn't Get the Logic Behind Extra Shows in AP?
By: Tupaki Desk | 15 March 2022 6:12 PM ISTAdding more troubles for Tollywood which was already affected by the pandemic, the Andhra Pradesh government had imposed a few restrictions on the ticket prices, and the benefit shows, which is like the soul for any film, were canceled. After a lot of considerations and meetings, the Go permitting special show was issued.
There is no need to be happy about the relaxation as the permission comes with a big twist. The big films can have five shows on one condition that at least one show should be dedicated to a low budget film to help the small films to sustain.
The benefit show is a key aspect for big films. The reasons behind the same are, fans will buy tickets for soaring prices and the theatre owners will see additional profit with the special shows. Another aspect of the benefit show is that the positive talk of a film can be taken to the public easily.
By canceling the benefit show, the Andhra Pradesh government had brought an extra show proposal, which sounds good and great on paper. In reality, it is not beneficial for the big films and the low-budget films as well.
Jumping into the practicality of the shows, the big films have to accommodate a show to low budget films, which makes the big films lose a show. There is no chance for the low-budget films to get prime shows. So the show will not lend any help to the films. No films will have a clear benefit and many people miss the logic here.
Looks like India's top director Rajamouli also didn't get the logic right. When he was asked about the benefit shows in Andhra Pradesh for RRR, Jakkanna reportedly said that five shows were allowed and the additional show is nothing but a benefit show.
One doesn't understand why the government is after the film industry. Starting with the regularisation of movie ticket prices, the government has been coming up with more and more restrictions. Doing away with the benefit show is one such restriction. The government says it took the decision to see that common people can buy the tickets too.
The concept behind bringing benefit shows is to cater to the fans of big stars, who don't shy away from paying big amounts. There is no logic behind canceling the shows.
