Tragedy In Rajeev-Suma Family

Tragedy struck in the family of popular actor Rajeev Kanakala-anchor Suma. Rajeev's mother Lakshmi Devi passed away on Saturday at the age of 78. She was suffering from health-related issues for quite some time. Lakshmi Devi has good recognition in the film industry. She was an actress and she acted in several dramas and she appeared in a few Telugu movies as well. She trained many artists along with her husband Devadas Kanakala.

Lakshmi Devi started acting dramas at the age of 11. She achieved popularity as a good dancer and actress. She worked as a trainer in Madras Film Institute and trained several budding actors at that time. Popular actors like Subhalekha Sudhakar.. Suhasini were trained under Lakshmi Devi. Her prominent characters in films include Vijayashanthi's mother-in-law role in 'Police Lockup'.. Rajendra Prasad's mother role in 'Kobbari Bondam'.

She married Devadas Kanakala in 1971. The couple had two children Rajeev Kanakala and Sri Laxmi. Lakshmi Devi's son-in-law Peddi Ramarao is also prominent drama actor.
