'2.O' collected anywhere around Rs 75 crore in India on Day 1. This is no way close to the expectations people had on the sci-fi thriller. India's costliest flick couldn't even recover Rs 100 crore on Day 1 inspite of huge releaseâ¦what a pity?
Hindi Version of '2.O' collected Rs 20.25 crore in the Domestic Market on Day 1. Early Estimates hinted the figure could be over Rs 25 crore. However, Akshay Kumar-starrer fell short of the expectations due to various reasons - Dubbed Film, Non-Holiday/Festival Release, Wrong Promotional Strategy & Opening Advance Bookings very late.
Much to everyone's shock, '2.O' failed to beat the Day 1 record set by Vijay-starrer 'Sarkar' in Tamil Nadu. It managed to collect only Rs 20 crore, which is less than what 'Kabali' managed.
In Telugu States, '2.O' collected a Share of Rs 12.43 crore and Gross of Rs 18.2 crore. This is ordinary when compared with the fancy price (Rs 72 crore) offered for Telugu Theatrical Rights.
Day 1 Collections have been Rs 8 crore and Rs 5.5 crore respectively in Karnataka and Kerala.
LYCA Productions refused to sell the USA rights for outright price of Rs 30 crore in this territory. In USA, Prime Media acquired the rights for Rs 18 crore on Advance Basis. Although official figures weren't revealed by the distributor, Trade expects the Premieres & Day 1 revenue could be around $1.5 million. Wrong Estimation of the craze ($30 per ticket) costed the distributor dearly.
