Some of the dubbing films of Vishal such as 'Pandem Kodi' and 'Indrudu' have done good business in Telugu States. After few failures, Our Dark Horse arrives with an out & out mass subject 'Rayudu'. Let's see what this Tamil-hit will offer to the Telugus…

Synopsis:

Rayudu (Vishal), a daily laborer in the market, is so attached to his Grand-Mother. Taking the advise of his grand-mom seriously, He loves Bhagya Lakshmi (Sri Divya) and thereafter comes to know about her issues. An anti-social element (RK Suresh) is trying to kill Bhagya Lakshmi and Rayudu saves her from the villain gang on one occasion. That's when the twist behind why his Grand Mother wanted him to marry Bhagya Lakshmi unfurls. Why a gangster wants to kill Bhagya Lakshmi? Was Rayudu able to protect his soulmate from the goons? Is he able to tie the knot with her? Watch 'Rayudu' in theaters near you to know more..!

Performances:

Vishal is perfect for the mass character and the way he moulded himself for the role is pretty impressive. As usual, He excels in action blocks. Even he comes out with flying colors in the emotional scenes as well.

Sri Divya is flawless as a village belle & her performance is so natural. The Actress who played the role of Hero's Grand Mother has done a good job. RK Suresh as the baddie is convincing. Soori brings the much needed comic relief.

Pros:

Female Characters

Action Blocks

Sentiment

Cons:

Tamil Flavour

Predictability

Technicalities:

D Imman's Mass Beats were in sink with the subject. Vel Raaz's Camera Work is appreciable & he captures the village atmosphere to perfection. Production Values were alright. Director Muthaiah have a good command on subjects with village backdrop. He handled the mass masala elements & emotional scenes pretty well. All the female characters in the movie were etched out perfectly. The only drawback would be the lack of freshness in the story chosen.

Analysis:

After watching 'Rayudu', One gets the feeling that 'Mangamma Gari Manavadu' is the apt title for the movie as it have close resemblance to the 80s super hit in a lot of ways. Just alike most of the films in the 80s & 90s, We find lots of action and sentiment in this Vishal-starrer. Neither 'Rayudu' have a novel story nor thrilling elements to keep viewers on the edges of their seats. On a whole, Its just a pucca mass entertainer with rural backdrop.

Action Blocks & Comedy which entertain the Masses, Heavy dose of Sentiment that Families could connect are the real strengths of 'Rayudu'. On the flip side, Tamil Nativity is evident in each & every frame. If Telugu movie buffs could digest the Tamil flavour, Then they find 'Rayudu' as a time-pass fare.

Even though he makes his presence felt with his body language & performing heavy-duty fights with ease, Vishal's character wasn't etched properly and his role doesn't have much significance. The three female characters were designed so well. Romance-Comedy takes centre stage in the First Half. Love Track of lead pair is boring. Soori tickles the funny bone at times. The twist behind Grand-Mom's advise to Rayudu raises curiosity. Picturization of Internal Fight is too good.

Emotional Scenes in Pre-Climax have been dealt well but too much melodrama mayn't be appreciated by Telugus. Even the challenging scene of Hero's Grandmom is laudable. Climax is too predictable. Run Time of 146 minutes & lack of twists n turns is a bit of worry.

Bottom Line: Only for the Front-Benchers!
