She is not like any other celebrity but a lady superstar so everybody is eagerly waiting to bring her back to India for the final rites. As she breathed her last in Dubai, her family members couldn't do that immediately. According to the information, the Indian Embassy in Dubai is trying hard to bring her mortal remains to India soon. The delay is inevitable as they have to follow the strict rules of Dubai as per the reports.
But still why they are unable to bring Sridevi back even after 24 hours of her death? There were reports in the media that her body will be brought to India by 11 am on Sunday itself. Then the time changed to 1 pm. The time of the arrival of her body kept on changing until Monday morning. Why there is so much delay?
As per the rules, the government conducts an autopsy if any foreigner dies in Dubai. Once the police receive the post-mortem report and make sure that the death is natural then they will issue a clearance. Even Sridevi case is no different. But the Dubai officials are making sure that they complete the procedure in minimum possible time. As soon as the doctors declared Sridevi dead, they have conducted an autopsy. It takes 24 hours to get the detailed report. Meanwhile, they have kept her body in the Police mortuary.
As per the prominent Dubai newspaper Khaleej Times, they have to follow six main aspects before they send her back to India.
1. As soon as they get the forensic report, they will embalm her body. It takes 90 minutes.
2. Police Department will issue death certificate
3. Indian Consulate in Dubai will cancel Sridevi passport
4. Immigration Office has to complete administrative procedures.
5. Public Prosecutor has to issue a clearance certificate to hand over her body to the family members.
6. Then, they will take her body to the airport. Her body will be brought back to India in private chartered flight.
Considering all these aspects, a few journalists friends in Dubai are saying that her body may reach India by Monday evening.
