Suriya turns down Gemini Ganeshan part in Mahanati!

Actor Suriya was approached to play the part of Gemini Ganeshan in the movie Mahanati, biopic of legendary actress Savitri. The movie will have Keerthy Suresh playing Savitri and Samantha Ruth Prabhu will be playing an important role in the movie. Initially Suriya was interested in taking up the part as he thought it would be interesting to play the part of the romantic hero of Tamil industry.

But during the discussions with the director, Naga Ashwin Suriya thought the script needed several improvements and suggested the same to the director. Ashwin discussed with his writing team about the same and took the different version to the actor. Still, unhappy with the script he suggested few more changes to increase his part in the movie. Team of Mahanati after several more discussions, thought about the script development again but the changes seem to be misfit for the vision of the director.

Further discussions with the actor turned unfruitful and Suriya decided to opt out of the movie. The production team is now looking for another top star for the part and will soon announce the name after the discussions lead to something worthwhile. The shooting of the movie is slated to start by the end of this month.
