Celebrities have started a movement on social media to demand justice for Manisha Valmiki. #JusticeForManishaValmiki is the hashtag trending on social media. Criticisms are pouring in that the girl's body was cremated by the police and not handed over to her parents.
"A drug case is being discussed in media from past 2 months but the rape of murder of a common girl of the nation never gets the incessant coverage on news channels. A rape or murder case of a girl is important and discussed only for few days on media and then forgotten till the next brutal rape happens. When will our lawmakers wake up and take this seriously?" wrote Renu Desai on her Instagram stories.
