Malayalam actress Rima Kalingal slammed censor Board, CBFac for denying to certify their film, Abasham and then giving it an 'A' on the pretext on exposing thighs of a male character.

Rima Kalingal said, "If a movie is to be denied censoring, then that film should violate the rules of the CBFC. But here instead the movies are denied censoring for many other reasons.

It is appalling that it happens in a democratic country. The censor board initially said that they had a problem with Surajettan exposing his thigh. When I told this to one of my friends she said, 'So was it ok to flash thighs in Pulimurugan'.

It was then the hypocrisy struck me. If an artist cannot criticise what happens in the society through his art, then it means we are not living in a democracy. Now we are facing exactly what we have shown in our movie."

In the movie, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Rima play lead roles from a village. Suraj does wear a lungi and for most of the length, his thighs are shown as he ties the lungi up.

The case and crew of the film, fought over the certification and got "U/A" finally. The movie directed by debutant Judith Namradathu is releasing on 4th May.
