On July 24th, Posters of 'iSmart Shankar' displaying Ram Pothineni smoking a cigar appeared at the Mantri Mall in Inox Cinemas, Bengaluru. This matter has come to the notice of Directorate Of Health and Family Welfare Department. Notices were served to the Makers for violating Section 5 of the COTPA Act. A clarification was sought over the violation of Tobacco Law.
Directorate Of Health and Family Welfare Department quoted World Health Organisation's Global Adult Tobacco Survey 2016-17 confirmed Youth in the age of 19 has been using tobacco related products in this Southern State. Over 1.5 crore people in Karnataka has been doing that inspite of one lakh deaths in India per year due to Tobacco-related Diseases.
