Samantha Akkineni is starring in 96 Remake in Telugu. The movie starring Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha Krishnan became a cult among the youth in Tamil Nadu, majorly in urban centers.
The movie did become a hit, theatrically and the young crowd of Tamil Nadu lapped it up so much that, their praises reached Telugu social media as well.

90% of the viewers from Telugu, also expressed the same about the romance and said that it shouldn't be remade as by that time, a remake plan is set in motion by Dil Raju.
