It Pained Me A Lot: Samantha
By: Tupaki Desk | 8 Aug 2017 8:52 AM GMTOn the eve of National Handlooms Day, 'Woven - A Walk To Fashion' event was organized in a grand manner. Telangana IT Minister KTR took special interest in making this show a huge success. Samantha, Naga Chaitanya, PV Sindhu, Anu Emmanuel, Adah Sharma, Catherine Tresa and Ritu Varma walked the ramp.
At Woven 2017, Samantha told: 'I feel proud to be brand ambassador for handlooms. I had launched Pratyusha Foundation to pay back to the society. Bringing change in the lives of women had given me immense satisfaction. Thousands of Families were dependent on Handloom Industry but their situation is getting pathetic day-by-day and people have been migrating to cities due to lack of proper income. Wherever I might go, Focus of public will be on what outfit I wear. Once, I had seen a beautifully woven designer dress & got surprised to know it's a handloom material. Usually, Film Celebs spent so much on fashionable clothes but my perception changed after watching that handloom dress. That's why I quickly agreed when Telangana Minister KTR asked me to be brand ambassador'.
'Only 1/10th of the money generated through sale of Handloom Clothes reaches the Weavers. It pained me a lot! We have to safeguard such an art form. We should strive to raise their living standards. Hence, I am associating with Telangana Government for bringing designer clothes into the market at reasonable prices. Under the banner 'Weaver With Twist', Designer Clothes will be kept available for public by Telangana Government very soon'.
