The Telugu film industry is known for its star-studded releases during the Sankranthi season. It is a highly profitable period for the industry, with competition among mainstream Telugu films to secure the Sankranthi release slot.
The latest entrants to this race are the makers of Mahesh Babu and Trivikram's SSMB28 and Prabhas's Project K, which have announced their Sankranthi 2024 release plans. While doubts were initially cast on Project K's release plan, a newly released making video has confirmed its Sankranthi 2024 release.
Apart from these two big-budget films, Nagarjuna and Prasanna Kumar's untitled film, Kamal Haasan's Indian 2, Pawan Kalyan's Ustaad, and Ram Charan's Game Changer are all rumored to be released during the Sankranthi 2024 season. However, with the release of SSMB28 and Project K already confirmed, the chances of these films securing the Sankranthi slot are slim.
Although Game Changer was also contemplating a Sankranthi release, it is unlikely to happen due to the competition. It is not feasible to have two films by the same director, Shankar, competing for the same release slot.
With the 2024 Sankranthi slot already packed with the announcements from SSMB28 and Project K, and the possibility of Nagarjuna's next, other films may not be able to secure the tightly packed Sankranthi window.
